Each Great white has a unique personality and set of behaviours. This shark was calm and curious, but very shy. It took close to an hour for her to work up the courage for the close pass that allowed me to capture this photo.

How do I know this? Well, the ocean is extremely large so if this shark was not curious it would have just passed me by. It was slow moving and did not try and eat me, which I call calm, and despite its significant size and manoeuvrability advantage, it would not approach me. I call that shy. This great white shark was not behaving even close to what I imagined.
